DogBoarding.LA

Hi there, I'm Kyle

(that's me in the video with my 'boy' Brody)

I'M A PROFESSIONAL
DOG TRAINER
& PET SITTER.

Lets start here - Step 1

I've heard so many horror stories about wanna be sitters, trying to learn and side hustle, with people's treasured dogs. Or dog parents, who simply don't know who to trust with their dog.  Without a reliable and professional Sitter, understandably, dog parents are just too afraid to leave for the night, weekend, or a vacation.
That is why, I'm so excited that we're connecting here.
So that we don't loose touch with each other, I'd love it if you could share your email with me.  In exchange for the right to chat with you electronically, I'm going to give you 5 free gifts valued at $356.00!
Yes, I'm serious.
No strings attached!

  • 1 FREE NIGHT'S STAY (good for the next 6 months) - a $60 value

 All together, a $356 value !!

Step 2

If you're already a customer, love my service, and want to schedule a stay, use this link.

Why ? ...

So many of my clients tell me horror stories about other 'professional sitters' they have tried.  People trying to side hustle and learning while on the job with other people's dog.  Stories about canceling a stay last minute.  Stories about loosing their dog and not notifying the family till days later.  Stories about people incapable of caring for a dog.  Stories about simply not being able to handle the dog and demanding the owner pick the dog up immediately, even if they are already out of the area, city, state or even the country, for work or a vacation.

I hear the praises every day from my human clients, on how thankful they are that they met me.

I see every day, the praises from my canine clients, with their smiles, their fun as they play in the yard, their tail wags, the peace they have when they curl up next to me.

I'll take great care of your four legged child and keep them safe love them like my own, in my own home, not a cold commercial warehouse.

You'll hear me say it over and over again, but I love dogs.  They are my passion.  They are what drives me.  I know how valuable the relationship with my dogs is, so my mission is to help strengthen that with your dogs.
I'm here to serve you, your family and your dog.

My drive and passion is helping people to have a better relationship with best friend. That is why I became a professional Dog Trainer then added on this pet sitting service.

  • I've never done this before, what do I do?

Just like a Vet appointment, I'm going to ask you to give me some basic information about yourself and your dog(s) to keep on file.  It only takes a few minutes but it's important for me to have.  I do refer back to it very often.  After that, you can schedule a Meet & Greet, or your first stay request, which ever you prefer.

  • How do I get started?

Click on any of the big red "Schedule NOW" buttons, and complete the stay request. We will reply back with a confirmation for the stay. Then your stay will be confirmed. We will reach out to you the night before to re-confirm.

  • What's the difference between day care and boarding?

Day care is a brief stay during the day for a few hours up to 12 hours. Boarding is overnight, it can be a single night but is typically multiple nights or even multiple weeks.

  • What's the difference between pet sitting and boarding?

A Pet Sitter is pretty much a generic term which simply means taking care of your pet(s).  In the 'industry' if often means a person coming to your home to care for the pet(s).  There are people who do that for a living.  I don't., Do you really want a stranger couch surfing in your home for a few days?  Also think about, what caliber of people would you get for $100 to only focus on your pet for a day or two.  Would you make a decent living on that small of a fee?

Boarding on the other hand means you bring the dog(s) to another location, in this case my home.  Here I can care for multiple dogs at a time, and maintain both a work and personal lifestyle without infringing on your home and privacy.

  • When are check in/out times?

I am here to serve. There is no specific check in or check out times like a cold commercial facility. But since they are staying in my home and I also like to sleep and have an occasional personal life, I try to avoid extreme hours 9pm - 7am, unless it's unavoidable.

All check in & check out times are by appointment only. "Mid morning" or "later tonight" is not a time.  Please don't show up un-announced, then get frustrated and blame me.  Please show up on time. If you're over 15 minutes late there is a $20 late fee. I will normally have 10-20 appointments in a day, so please respect my time and the others who will honor their appointment times.

My day is always crazy busy. Very often I am out back training or supervising dogs, so I can't hear if anyone is at the door. I ask that you send me a text message once you are on your away with your GPSs ETA so I can secure the dogs and be ready for your arrival/departure. Please don't tell me you're on your way. I have no clue if you're on your way from next door or San Diego. A preferred message is something like , "GPS says 10:14am arrival" This will give me time to secure all the dogs and prepare for you and your dog's arrival or departure.

Appointments and communications are professional and required.

  • Where are you?

Once you book a stay, I'll send you my address. It's a personal residence in Granada Hills, very close to the 118 fwy. & Balboa exit.

  • Can I visit you and your place first?

Yes and No. I understand leaving one of your most important family member with someone else can make many people anxious and stressed. I do my best to reduce that. I don't need to meet you and your dog prior to the stay unless there is a specific reason you think it's necessary. If you'd like to feel more comfortable and want to have a Meet & Greet prior, I fully understand and am happy to accommodate you.

Please understand that I provide this service in my home and I have hundreds of clients and I try to maintain some personal boundaries. Humans don't get to tour my home. I have nothing to hide, just respecting my personal life. If I was in a commercial facility then it would be completely a different story. I'm sure you also wouldn't want hundreds of people wandering around your home. I recognize this may seem weird, at first. If you notice all the amazing reviews I've received from clients, they didn't get a tour either. Everyone is more concerned about how I care for their dog versus my decor.

  • What is a typical day like?

I treat your dogs the same as my own.

At times, your dog will do the same thing here that he/she will do at your place. Eat. Sleep. Get up to move to another spot a few feet away, to go back to sleep.

At other times, since your dog is gong from a 'home alone' dog to being around a group of dogs, he/she may be super active.   Once I feel comfortable that your dog won't chew or mark, or be a jerk around the other dogs, they will typically get free roam access of the home. The majority of my day, I'm out back training, or in my master bedroom on my laptop and the dogs tend to follow me around from room to room.

Along my bedroom walls, I have multiple large 42" wire crates for them to be in during meal times and overnight sleeping. This way they won't feel isolated and can still see, hear and smell me and the other dogs while being safe and secure in their crate.

During the Summer, dogs are almost always inside when its hot. The rest of the year, dogs have access to the back yard almost all day. I or an assistant tries to be with them most of the time, but its not 100%. If I feel their is a dog upsetting the calmness, then they may get inside time or crated and have separate yard time.

I typically wont walk dogs because I'm not 100% aware of any potential flight risk. I have learned they get plenty of exercise just running and playing with each other in the backyard. If they are having fun, this also eliminates any potential escape factors.

  • What about updates?

I'll do my best to send you a few updates, but very often there is nothing to report. "Yes Fluffy is still asleep on the floor next to me."

I do love taking pics, but it does take some time to take a great picture (I'm pretty picky since I use to be a Professional Photographer), crop, and send. I try to send pics every 2nd or 3rd day, but very often my day is consumed training and responding to emails and messages.

  • What should I bring?

Did you ever send your kid to summer camp? You packed a weeks worth of clothes and items. You included another weeks of items in case it was hot, cold, rainy, dry ... Then what happens? Your kid comes home wearing the same items he had on a week ago. The same theory applies here. Your dog doesn't need to bring 42 items to stay the night.

Other than your dog. Your dog should have his/her collar with ID & a leash. If he/she can't live without his favorite day bed, pillow or blanket, bring it along. I have plenty of stainless steel bowls for food and water. I have plenty of balls and toys as well as the other dogs to keep him/her busy.

  • Should I bring his/her food?

YES! Dogs are a bit unusual that they could eat some old food they find on the ground, but if you switch there food from brand A to brand B overnight, they can take days to get used to it and it may cause diarrhea and/or vomiting. So YES pack his/her normal food.

Please don't bring over a 48lb. bag of dog food for a 2 night stay. I won't enjoy carrying it around as much as you won't. Feel free to put food in a zip lock bag. If you want you can make up smaller bags, one for each meal or each day. It is helpful if you put your dog's name on it. You don't need to put "Monday Breakfast" or "Monday Dinner" on it. I typically wont spend time sorting 15 bags.

If your dog requires medication, please right out instructions such as: 1 pill 2x per day (am & pm) with food.

If your dog normally takes other pills, fish oil for his/her coat, extra vitamins, or a teaspoon of this or that, etc. either mix the dry items in each day's bag or just plan to take a break from those items for a few days. It gets really complicated and time consuming if I have to feed 5-10 dogs and each one's meal requires 5 additives. Lets Keep It Simple for the stay so I can spend time with your dog not being a canine short order cook.

Dry food is greatly preferred. Perishable food is okay but I do have limited space.

It's okay to pack a few extra meals, just in case your plans change. I've had client's experience flight delays and also simply wanting to extend their stay for a few more nights.

Lastly, your dog might be a bit unsure or anxious the first few days/nights, and its VERY normal for a dog's appetite to be reduced, so don't think I'm starving your dog or neglecting them if you get some food back. Dogs can medically survive up to 5 days without food, so if they don't eat much or at all the first few days, I'm not overly concerned. I will however make sure they are drinking water and staying hydrated!

  • How many dogs do you care for?

It's always hard for me to answer that since everyday is different. I have my 3 personal dogs, Brody, Sami. & Charlie. I will typically have a few dogs I'm fostering til they find their forever home. At any one point I may have a handful of client dogs. There are some day I may only have 1-2 client dogs. On holiday weekends, I tend to have a large pack.

  • What if an emergency happens?

It's hard to predict what your dog may do while here.  Because your dog may not be used to being around a group of dogs, he/she my be extremely active, just like a (human) child going to Summer Camp ad all excited.  His/her activity level may be at a level 10.  When that happens, sometimes, accidents happen.  Dogs may pull a muscle, they may accidentally run into something, their play may get out of hand with other dogs.  Accidents may happen here, being around other dogs, more than they will at home, when alone.  It's not neglect or poor supervision, it's allowing dogs to be dogs and allowing them to have fun.

If an accident happens, then I'll treat them like my own dogs. I'll watch them closely. If I think they can wait till the next day or a few days, then I'll make that judgement call based upon the specific situation. If something life threatening happens, I'll rush them to a local Vet without hesitation. Regardless, I'll keep you informed every step of the way. I'm not a crazy alarmist Dog Dad. Sometimes a cough requires food and rest, not a rush to the local emergency Vet and $5,000 worth of tests.

Also keep in mind that if YOUR dog gets sick or injured and needs medical attention, YOU will be responsible for your dog's medical bills. Just like if your kid gets hurt at school, you pay for the DR visit not the school.

  • Priorities and Rules.

My very first priority is their safety and care. My yard has 5' & 6' high fences so it's very secure. If I see personality conflicts with dogs, then I'll separate them with indoor or yard time. EVERY dog is crated at meal times to avoid guarding or aggression. EVERY dog is crated at night to keep them safe and reduce getting into something in the wee hours. If your dog is not comfortably being crated, then this will be a great time for him/her to lean. Crate training is an essential skill a dog needs.

My dogs sit and sleep on our furniture, here at home. I allow my guest dogs to do the same. If you don't allow your dogs on your furniture, let me know and I'll try to enforce that rule here.

  • Pricing & Payment.

• Day care (0 - 12 hours) is $50/day
• Overnight (up to 24 hours) is $60/night
• Late fee is $20 (if you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment).
• Meals are $5/day if you forget to provide (but please don't).
• Damages as incurred (furniture, mini blinds, carpet, etc.)

Holiday rates vary from 50% to 100% of the normal rate and typically include 1-2 days before and after the official holiday (i.e a long Memorial Day Weekend, not just Memorial Day). You'll be notified prior to any/every stay so there are no surprises.

I hate cancelation fees, but this is my business. When you schedule dates, make sure they are the exact dates needed. If you need to add or subtract a day involved with a multi night stay, I'm a bit more flexible. Cancelation is 50% after you have confirmed the dates. 100% if you cancel within 72 hours of the start of the stay, for the entire cost of the stay. I hate to charge this, but if you request a space and it's reserved for you, I typically won't be able to fill that space and will lose income and the ability to serve others.

If you're needing multiple stays in a week then after a few weeks, we can settle up on the last stay of the week.

For longer stays (5+ nights) , I prefer 50% at arrival and 50% at departure.

Some people find this unusual, but I only accept CASH for payment. No credit cards. No debit cards. No electronic payments like Zelle or PayPal. Just good ol' fashion cash, like the good ol' days. If you need it, there are 3 banks and multiple ATMs within 1/2 mile of my residence.

"Value does not decrease, based on someone's ability to recognize the worth"

Caring for your loved one is priceless service. Don't believe me? Find someone who doesn't know what he/she is doing, or doesn't care and compare the $10-$20/night savings with a $5,000 Vet bill if your dog escapes and gets injured, or the days of sadness & stress looking for a lost pet, if ever found.

  • Integrity!

I know this seems like a foreign topic these days, but it's still how I strive to operate & live.

If you schedule a stay and don't show up, you will still be responsible for the amount due. Do what you say and say what you do. Don't force me to be the responsible adult and hold you accountable to your word and commitment.

My clients are amazing and bring me back items from their vacation, their kids make me cards and cookies, I get Starbuck cards, etc. I've had some clients give me a 300% tip (don't feel obligated). All that to say, people who value my service are the ones I want as clients, not people who show up 2 hours late. Of course if you're flight is delayed or something abnormal, I'm understanding. If you didn't plan for traffic, thats you're poor planning, not mine. If you insist on a 5am drop off, I get up early and you show up at 630am, I won't be very understanding and most likely you won't be allowed back. During the day I'm a bit more flexible.

Once is an exception. Twice results in me firing a client.

THE NEXT STEP IS YOURS.
